A $92,000 donation was made to Verdugo Hills Hospital from the VHH Foundation’s Women’s Council during a recent luncheon celebration at the hospital. The funds raised will help upgrade an X-ray room and will assist with the purchase of a Bipap Vision Ventilating System.

VHH Foundation President Yulanda Davis-Quarrie also welcomed the Women’s Council’s 2012 Board of Directors and thanked all members past and present for their continuous fund-raising and friend-raising efforts for the hospital.

Betty Hurn, a member of the council for nine years, was named its new chairman. She previously served in that capacity in 2006 and 2007.

“The Women’s Council is in the process of planning for this year,” said Hurn. “I can say that we will continue our popular fund-raisers such as our popular Bingo and fashion show events that will be held in the spring of this year.”

Joining Hurn on the council’s board of directors are Eileen Akers, chair-elect; Suzonne Slaughter, recording secretary; Teri Rice and Alexandra Smyser, serving as co-treasurers; Kate Kaneko, fundraising sponsorship chair; Marie Hansen, membership chair; Teri Rice and Gloria Cotten, program chairs; Virginia Clegg, Loretta Levy and Sue Wilder, corresponding secretaries; Pauline Hendricks, historian; Sue Wilder, parliamentarian and nominating/resource chair).
