Crime Blotter, Feb. 2: $2,300 bike, gardening equipment stolen

Area 1

3000 block of Foothill Boulevard: A black JanSport backpack containing school supplies was stolen on Monday, Jan. 30, after its owner, a high school student, left it at the front of Walgreens while shopping. At 3:21 p.m. a white man with black hair and goatee, wearing a black shirt and green cargo pants, was spotted leaving the store with the backpack.

2400 block of Los Olivos Lane: A Garmin GPS, a pair of sunglasses and some small tools were stolen from a locked Saturn sedan sometime between 11 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, and 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 29.

1900 block of Verdugo Boulevard: A locked Chevrolet Suburban was broken into, with the driver-side door lock punctured and the steering column broken, sometime between 5:50 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25. Nothing was reported stolen.

3100 block of Foothill Boulevard: A 20-year-old man was arrested for stealing two cans of spray paint from the Orchard Supply Hardware on Foothill Boulevard at 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. Deputies discovered the two stolen spray cans under a truck, where the suspect had tried to hide them.

Area 2

4700 block of Alta Canyada Road: Gardening equipment was stolen from a locked Chevy Silverado sometime between 3:45 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30. The truck had a camper shell, and its rear window had been smashed.

5300 block of Alta Canyada Road: A $2,300 mountain bike was stolen from an unlocked garage sometime between 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, and 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27.

Area 3

1000 block of Flintridge Avenue: An Athens Services yard waste trash bin was stolen sometime between 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, and 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27.
