Crime blotter, April 8: Couple steal $2,271 worth of cologne and perfume from the Rite Aid store

500 block of Houseman Street: A briefcase was stolen out of a locked Ford SUV parked in its owner’s driveway between 11 p.m. Sunday, April 1, and 8 a.m. Monday, April 2. The front driver-side window of the SUV had been smashed.

900 block of Crown Avenue: A woman’s purse was stolen out of her locked Honda SUV between 11:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, and 6:15 a.m. Monday, April 2. The car’s front passenger-side window had been smashed. The victim’s debit card was later used to purchase $105 worth of gas at two Chevron stations in Bell.

4700 block of Hampton Road: A 12-gauge shotgun and an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle were stolen out of the hatchback of a locked Subaru Outback between 11 p.m. Sunday, April 1, and 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 2. The car’s rear hatchback window was smashed. The value of the guns and their cases was reported at roughly $2,650.

900 block of Foothill Boulevard: A woman’s planner containing $400 in cash, was stolen out of her purse while she shopped at Sprouts Farmers Market between 1:30 and 1:45 p.m. on Friday, March 30. The victim recalled being distracted by someone who bumped into her in the dairy aisle, but she did not realize her planner had been stolen until she reached the cashier.

1300 block of Foothill Boulevard: Plants and flowers valued at $150 were stolen from the Home and Garden store between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, and 9:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29. The 10 rose and cabbage bushes were stolen from the planters in the rear of the business.

4100 block of Dover Road: A wine refrigerator and a water heater, valued at $2,000 each, were stolen from a home between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Friday, March 16. The home, which was unoccupied at the time of the burglary, was entered through a sliding glass door that had been smashed. The damage is estimated at $4,000.

2600 block of Foothill Boulevard: A man and woman stole $2,271 worth of cologne and perfume from the Rite Aid store at 3:06 p.m. Sunday, March 25. In security camera footage the woman was seen entering the store, looking for security, then signaling to a man, who entered and began putting items in the pockets of his sweatshirt and pants. The two then left without paying.

3100 block of Encinal Avenue: Jewelry worth $1,250 was stolen from a locked home between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29. The home was entered through a bedroom window that had been pried open.

Encinal Avenue and Ramsdell Avenue: A Scion TC sustained $1,500 in damage by vandals while it was parked at Crescenta Valley High School between 7:50 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27. Several large dents were made in the car’s hood. The victim claimed to see a shoe print on the hood where the dents were made.

3000 block of Encinal Avenue: A man was arrested on suspicion of possession of Ativan and Percoset without a prescription at 6:58 p.m. Wednesday, March 28. Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious man sitting in a white van for two hours and found the suspect passed out against the steering wheel.
