Bear climbs tree in La Cañada Flintridge

Share

A black bear visited a La Cañada Flintridge home at 6 a.m. Wednesday, climbing at least 30 feet up a redwood tree in the backyard of a house on the 600 block of Pomander Place, a cul-de-sac near Woodleigh Lane, south of the Foothill (210) Freeway.

Lt. Angela Shepherd of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station said deputies were dispatched to the home, but the bear descended from its perch and left on its own accord around 7:15 a.m. The bear did not cause any damage.

It also avoided the media scrutiny that befell “Glen Bearian,” a bear that garnered its own Twitter account in April after spending a few weeks rummaging through North Glendale and La Crescenta garbage cans. Those raids stopped after authorities tranquilized a bear discovered at a La Crescenta home and relocated it deep within the Angeles National Forest.
