Bakersfield man missing in Angeles National Forest

The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department and Montrose Search and Rescue are scouring the Mt. Lukens area of the Angeles National Forest for missing hiker Ertug Ergun.

Ergun, 33 and of Bakersfield, was reported missing on Wednesday, June 20, by his supervisor at work, according to Bakersfield Police Det. William Hughes.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, June 22, sheriff’s deputies located Ergun’s vehicle at the Stonyvale Picnic area off Big Tujunga Road. There were no signs of the missing hiker and no signs of suspicious circumstances, according to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

On Sunday, more 60 people from sheriff’s rescue teams searched for Ergun.

Ergun is described as an avid hiker. The Turkish national has brown hair, is six feet two and is thin, according to the sheriff’s department. The sheriff’s department asks anyone with information about the missing hiker to call (661) 326-3501 or (818) 248-3464.
