Crime blotter: Man in possession of burglary tools says he was hiking

Dec. 2

Mail theft: 4100 block of Chevy Chase Drive, before 5 p.m.

Burglary: 2160 Foothill Blvd., 4:04 p.m. Beads and jewelry worth an estimated $3,732 taken from Jo-Ann’s Fabrics. Surveillance video shows the suspect is a woman, 55 to 65 years old, wearing black clothing.

Dec. 3

Identity theft: 200 block of Starlane Drive, 4 p.m. Personal information used without authorization in attempt to open a credit account.

Dec. 5

Burglary: 5500 block of Burning Tree Drive, between 11:30 a.m. and 10:30 p.m. Kitchen window smashed, two flat-screen TVs, Tiffany cuff links, a necklace and a $200 in cash taken.

Dec. 7

Possession of burglary tools: 600 block of Starlight Crest Drive, 1:23 a.m. Deputies spotted and arrested a man wearing a black cap and hooded sweatshirt hiding behind a car. The man was found to be in possession of black utility gloves, a flashlight and a pocketknife. He said he was out to exercise and walk the mountain trails.

Theft: 2100 block of Tondolea Lane, before 6 a.m. Gucci sunglasses taken from an unlocked Lexus sedan.

Vehicle burglary: 4500 block of Castle Road, before 9:50 a.m. Wallet, laptop computer and gold wedding ring with diamonds taken from locked car.

Dec. 11

Burglary: 100 block of Normandy Lane, between 9:45 a.m. and 8:15 p.m. Door window smashed, diamond earrings, ruby earrings and opal earrings taken.

Dec. 6

Theft: 2600 block of Prospect Avenue, before 1 p.m. Two bicycles and $1,000 worth of socket wrenches taken. The wrenches were taken from a locked tool box in a pickup truck, the bicycles were taken from the porch.
