Petty theft: 4500 block of Palm Drive. Box containing a dining room light fixture stolen from front porch.
Jan. 5 to 6
Attempted grand theft: 4800 block of Grand Avenue, between 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 5 and 10:25 a.m. on Jan. 6. Ignition key lock cylinder damaged and channel lock pliers found in unlocked vehicle.
Vandalism: 3700 block of Normandy Drive, between 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 5 and 10:25 a.m. on Jan. 6. Mailbox pried open and latch bent. Possible theft of mail.

Burglary: 4200 block of Woodleigh Lane, 2:10 p.m. A safe containing $25,000, diamonds, savings bonds and jewelry was stolen from a home. A semiautomatic handgun, .38-caliber revolver, metal watch and personal documents were also taken. Back glass door was smashed.
Jan. 11
Petty theft: 2000 block of Starlight Crest Drive, before 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 11. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toy and black spiral notebook stolen from unlocked vehicle.

Animal cruelty: 4554 Briggs Ave., before 5 p.m. on Jan. 7. Box containing dead animal bodies dropped on the side of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. Animals appeared to be a headless goat and two dead chickens.
Jan. 10-16
Vandalism: 3000 block of Encinal Avenue. Front and rear vehicle tires slashed at resident’s home.
Jan 16-17
Burglary: 2800 block of Community Avenue, before 6:30 a.m. on Jan. 17. Portable camcorder stolen from locked vehicle.
