LCUSD pushes parents to call Sen. Liu

Share

The La Cañada Unified School District is urging locals to call State Sen. Carol Liu (D-La Cañada Flintridge) regarding the state’s funding of public schools. The district sent out a mass email to school parents Thursday morning requesting the action.

Board members want Liu to support a plan that restores funding to 2007-09 levels, provides a target goal that is at least level to the national average, and delays implementation until the next school year so officials can prepare.

Under some of the current proposals, the La Cañada Unified would receive almost $1,100 less for each student, according to a statement from the district. Officials are expecting Gov. Jerry Brown and local lawmakers to come to a budget agreement soon.
