La Cañada officials announce new trailhead name

Share

The newly renovated park-like space on Foothill Boulevard that connects to trails in the city now has a name.

Winery Channel Trailhead --- named for a channel that a nearby flume crosses --- will greet residents at the corner of Indiana Avenue and Foothill.

The 1.5-acre Southern California Edison property was bare and desolate before its $252,000-makeover earlier this year. The city used $150,000 from a Proposition A grant to partially fund the project.

Electrical towers still stand in the back of the new space, but crews have planted trees, installed benches, tables and parking spaces in an effort to beautify the area. The trailhead is designed to be a gathering area for hikers and equestrian trail users.
