Taking a vacation? Let the sheriff’s station know

Do you live in La Cañada Flintridge and plan to go out of town on a vacation this summer? The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station wants to know when you’re leaving and how long you’ll be out of town.

During his regular presentation at the July 1 meeting of the City Council, Capt. Bill Song said five residential burglaries were reported in La Cañada Flintridge in June. Of those five, he said, two occurred while the residents were on vacation.

“The sheriff’s department is highly encouraging you to call the department if you are away on vacation so we can conduct checks,” he said.

Extra deputies in the neighborhood might also scare off potential burglars, Song added.

“Just seeing some type of presence there is going to discourage any type of crime,” he said.

The sheriff’s department can be reached at (818) 248-3464.
