July 20

Identity theft: 4700 block Daleridge Road. A resident reported that someone used her personal identification to open a cell phone account with Verizon.

July 23

Forgery: 4600 block of Alcorn Drive. On July 1 a resident placed an envelope with a personal check and payment stub in her mailbox for pick-up. On July 22, when she reviewed her canceled checks, she noticed the name of the payee had been altered and the check cashed. She notified her bank and was told it would investigate the forgery.

July 24

Vehicle burglary: 4100 block Commonwealth Avenue. Someone took several items from a locked vehicle that had been left parked at the curb between 10:10 p.m. and 11:43 p.m. with the driver’s-side window left cracked open about three inches. When the vehicle’s owner left the residence, he noticed the trunk and glove compartment were both open. Missing were a new backpack, five Xbox video games, a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses, a vaporizer, four folding beach chairs and a dozen music compact discs.

July 25-27

Theft: 4700 block Hampton Road, between noon on Thursday and 1 p.m. on Saturday. A Rainbird sprinkler valve cap was stolen from the backyard of a residence.

July 26

Vandalism: Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store, 2160 Foothill Blvd. The west exterior wall of the building was spray-painted with black paint and an outdoor storage container was also sprayed with both black and white paint sometime between midnight and 6 a.m. Damages were estimated at $400.

July 29

Identity theft, passing fictitious checks: 1900 block Lombardy Drive. On July 29 a resident reported that between May 28 and June 14 someone made several unauthorized purchases from her checking account using fictitious checks with her personal information on them.

Identity theft, passing fictitious checks: 4300 block of Bel Aire Drive. On July 29 a resident reported that between June 9 and June 13 someone made unauthorized purchases with funds from her business account using her personal information.

July 25

Criminal threat, booby trap, violation of protective order: 3000 block of Encinal Avenue. A 35-year-old man was taken into custody after a victim reported that he was fearful of the suspect’s violent outbursts.

July 27

Vehicle burglary: 2400 block of Harmony Place. Taken were a Canon Rebel camera, a Bluetooth headset and various denominations of currency. The vehicle had been locked and left parked overnight. When its owner returned to it, he noticed it was unlocked and the glove compartment and center console compartments were open.

July 28-29

Petty theft: 2900 block Franklin Street. Sometime between 11:30 p.m. on July 28 and 4:30 p.m. on July 29, a wheel, a Michelin tire and a Toyota wheel cover were stolen from a locked vehicle that had been parked at the location.

July 30

Altered license plate with attempt to defraud; driving on a suspended license: A La Cañada man was arrested during a traffic stop on Waltonia Avenue at Park Place when he admitted taking a registration tab from his father’s vehicle and attaching it to his own license plate so “the cops wouldn’t stop me” for having an expired registration tab. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license.
