Morning procession in La Cañada, La Crescenta marks 9/11 anniversary
Hot rods, classic cars, police and fire vehicles drove in a small procession around the streets of La Cañada Flintridge and La Crescenta on Wednesday morning to mark the 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

Members of the Early Rodders Car Club, along with local officials, rode slowly over a route that began near Rosemont Middle School and ended on Foothill Boulevard. The club organized the event in memory of the nearly 3,000 victims who died in the 2001 attacks led by al-Qaeda. Five local fire stations, as well as the Montrose station of the Glendale Police Department and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station, were recognized during the event.
Deputies at the Crescenta Valley station stood on Briggs Avenue holding an American flag shortly after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, waving as cars rolled by.
Pat Anderson, president and chief executive of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce, earlier this week alerted local businesses and residential members about the event so they could participate along with their counterparts in La Crescenta.
“Today is a day that we must always remember,” Anderson said Wednesday. “May it always be a reminder to us to never take for granted the many freedoms and blessings that we enjoy in this great country.”
