La Cañada school board candidate forum is set

The eight candidates vying for three open seats on the La Cañada Unified School District board are expected to discuss their positions at an election forum next month.

The La Cañada PTA Council and the League of Women Voters Pasadena Area are hosting the event on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at La Cañada High School.

The candidates are incumbent Joel Peterson, educator and parent Kaitzer Puglia, Los Angeles school counselor Karyn Riel, Los Angeles prosecutor Dan Jeffries, Warner Bros. executive and attorney David Sagal, recent Harvard graduate Ian Mirisola, Urban Fitness Pilates Studio owner Jennifer Rubendall and Glendale Community College student Kevork Kurdoghlian. The election is Nov. 5.

Each candidate will offer an opening statement before answering questions related to district issues.

The forum is free and open to the public. The school is located at 4463 Oak Grove Drive. For more information, email PTA Council President Tamar Tujian at
