La Cañada Flintridge City Council to discuss sound walls, liquor store hours on Monday

Share

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council will consider a bid for the construction of the first three sound walls on Monday night.

City Council members previously rejected a bid for the project. City staff is recommending that the City Council approve an offer from Griffith Company. The City Council will also need to approve payments to five property owners who live near the project area before construction can begin.

The project is intended to shield freeway noise from neighborhoods. Most of the project is being funded through Measure R funds.

Also on the agenda for Monday night is a first reading of an ordinance that would limit the hours liquor could be sold at shops in the city.

Under the ordinance, shops would not be permitted to sell alcohol after midnight. Only one business currently sells alcohol past midnight: the 24-hour 7-Eleven Liquor on Foothill Boulevard.

The agenda for Monday’s meeting at 7 p.m. is available here.
