The newly created position of chief operating officer at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital has been filled by Paul Czajka, it was announced Tuesday. He most recently served in the same capacity at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.

Czajka has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare leadership field, including having at one time been an associate administrator of support services at the former USC University Hospital.

“This is a new position at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital and one that is crucial as we move forward with our construction and expansion plans and implementation of the electronic health record,” Debbie Walsh, chief executive of USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, stated in a news release. “Paul’s knowledge and experience make him a perfect fit for the COO position.”

Czajka stated he is “thrilled” by his appointment. “This hospital has provided four decades of clinical excellence,” he said. “I know that there has been a long history for the community to support the mission and vision of the hospital during these 40 years, which enabled the physicians and staff to provide the highest level of care to its patients.”
