La Cañada Elementary students compete in spelling bee

After surviving past words like scorch and shriek, four La Cañada Elementary students will go on to the district spelling bee next month.

The students competed in a spelling bee on the school’s campus Friday morning. Students cheered as their classmates spelled words correctly, and those that missed a word still received high-fives and support from their fellow students.

Ahren Bagramyan, a 6th grader, 5th-grader Noah Truong, 6th-grader Alejandro Uribe, and 4th-grader Angel Lee were the last four students standing.

They will join top students from Palm Crest Elementary and Paradise Canyon Elementary on Jan. 23 during the district-wide spelling bee held at the district offices at 6:30 p.m.

The winner in that competition will go on to the Los Angeles County Spelling Bee.
