Officials warn Angeles National Forest visitors of fireworks ban
If you’re planning a New Year’s Eve visit to Angeles National Forest tonight, then you need to leave the fireworks behind, sheriff’s officials announced.
The fireworks ban is year-round at the forest, regardless of weather condition or holidays, authorities said in a news release.
“The use of fireworks is prohibited on all national forests,” said Thomas Contreras, forest supervisor. “The regulations are enforced, and violation is punishable as a misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $5,000, imprisonment of not more than six months, or both.”
Fires are only allowed at campfires with fire rings provided. To extinguish fires, campers can drown them with water and stir the ashes. To learn more about campfire safety, visit www.smokeybear.com/put-out-campfire.asp.
