La Cañada Crime: Designer handbags stolen at TJ Maxx

Jan. 14

Vandalism: 600 block of Hook Tree Road, between an unspecified time on Jan. 13 and 4 p.m. Jan.14. Damage was done to mailbox, including a destroyed locking mechanism. The mailbox still contained mail, including incoming bills and a package the victim was expecting.

Theft by credit card, identity theft, petty theft: 900 block of Foothill Boulevard, between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. Stolen items included a leather wallet, four credit cards, and a driver’s license. The victim was shopping when she left her cart and realized her wallet had been stolen from her purse. She stated that she witnessed a man near her cart at the time and described him as being approximately 5’10” weighing 160 pounds with short reddish blonde hair, approximately 40 to 45 years old, wearing a tan jacket and tan pants.

Jan. 15

Theft by access card: 200 block of Mellow Lane. 2:33 p.m. The victim noticed on Jan. 15 that two suspicious withdrawals from his bank account had been made on Sept. 16, 2013.

Jan. 17

Vandalism: 2000 block of Tulip Tree Lane, between Jan. 16 at 4:30 p.m. and 7:15 a.m. Jan. 17. Damages were done to the roof, a wall and a window of a home by someone throwing eggs.

Jan. 20

Burglary: 663 Foothill Blvd. TJ Maxx, 3:54 p.m. Stolen items included 28 designer handbags. Suspects were described as a male, 25 to 30 years old wearing a gray T-shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes, and a female, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a black blouse, black and white leggings and black boots.

Dec. 27

Forgery: 2200 block of Mira Vista Avenue, unknown time. The victim received a bank statement on Dec. 27, 2013 and noticed that a check he had placed in the mail had been altered. Both the amount and the recipient of the check had been altered.

Jan. 17

Possession of controlled substance: 2500 block of Manhattan Avenue, 8:10 p.m. Officers responded to a drug overdose call. The suspect had an orange bottle containing cocaine.
