La Cañada crime: Gold nugget, money stolen in Camaro burglary

Petty theft: shoplifting, AT&T; store, 895 Foothill Blvd., 5:05 p.m. A white cellphone was stolen from a wall display. The act was captured on store surveillance. Two suspects entered the store through a rear entrance, one was helped by an employee while the other removed the phone from the display.

Theft by access card, burglary from vehicle: 500 block of Houseman Street. Between 8 p.m. Jan. 25 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 27. A wallet, debit card, 1 oz. gold nugget, driver’s license, and various denominations of money were stolen from locked vehicle, a white Chevy Camaro.

Jan. 26

Possession of a controlled substance (meth), possession of narcotics paraphernalia: 100 block of Foothill Boulevard, 2:45 a.m. The driver of a white Volkswagen asked an officer for directions. The officer checked the identifications of the driver and passenger. The passenger was on probation for possession of controlled substance. The police officer then searched the suspect and discovered a pipe and meth.

Jan. 25

Attempted burglary: 2675 Foothill Blvd., the Ralphs market. 2:30 p.m. Two suspects were spotted walking out of Ralphs with baskets filled with liquor bottles. They dropped the baskets when they noticed they were being watched, and entered a four-door white Camry driven by a third suspect. The two suspects with the baskets were captured on surveillance video. The investigation is ongoing.

Jan. 27

Petty theft: 3040 Foothill Blvd., Christie’s Liquor. 3 p.m. Three vodka bottles were stolen by a female suspect, after being put into a black backpack. The suspect then attempted to buy pastries at a nearby bakery. The victim followed the suspect and the suspect denied the theft. The suspect then entered a black Mercedes, with a male driver. The couple fled west on Foothill Boulevard and out of view.
