Crime Report: Laughing male eggs driver in La Cañada

Jan. 27

Grand theft: 4300 block of Commonwealth Avenue, between July 27, 2013 and 9:30 a.m. on Jan. 27. A plastic coin container with 5 oz. of yellow metal “gold dust” pebbles, an antique yellow metal wristwatch and gray metal wristwatch, and a 2 karat diamond were stolen from two separate lock boxes inside the victim’s home. The victim told law enforcement officials she had an idea of who stole the items, but did not share the suspect’s name.

Jan. 28

Burglary: 5600 block of Bramblewood Road. Between 9:25 a.m. and 2:55 p.m. Items stolen from the master bedroom of the house included a diamond-encrusted pin, a yellow metal necklace with a sapphire and pearl pendant, a pair of pearl earrings, a pair of hoop earrings, three other necklaces, and various denominations of money. Small pry marks were noted on the side garage door, indicating a possible entry/exit point.

Jan. 29

Mail theft: 5300 block of Alta Canyada Road. 9 a.m. Two letters were stolen from victim’s mailbox.

Jan. 30

Grand theft (from vehicle): 1400 block of Sugar Loaf Drive. Between 12 a.m. and 5 a.m. Someone went over or around the main entrance iron gate of victim’s residence and entered an unlocked BMW 328. A gray laptop computer, a photo identification for work, and a red laptop carry bag were stolen.

Jan. 31

Petty theft: 100 block of Berkshire Place. Between 5:30 p.m. Jan. 30 and 6 a.m. on Jan. 31. A black, 21-speed mountain bike, a combination lock and chain along with a bike helmet and seat cover were stolen. The bike had been left chained to a pole by its owner, who had accepted a ride home from a friend.

Burglary: 5500 block of Stardust Road. Between 10:30 p.m. Jan. 31 and 6:30 a.m Feb. 1. Someone entered an attic window using a ladder that had been left at the residence, which is currently under construction. Items stolen included a 42” black LCD TV and a white/silver desktop computer.

Feb. 1

Throwing substance at vehicle, vandalism: Corner of Berkshire Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue: 12:30 a.m. The victim was traveling eastbound on Berkshire Avenue when she noticed a vehicle with bright headlights was following very closely behind her. The other vehicle then pulled up next to her and a male in the passenger seat threw an egg at her window and laughed. The egg hit the vent next to the steering wheel.

Feb. 2

Vandalism: corner of Indiana Avenue and Foothill Boulevard. Sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 1 and 3 p.m. Feb. 2. A no-parking sign and a utility box were defaced with graffiti created with purple etching cream.
