LCF elementary schools honored
All three of the elementary schools in the La Cañada Unified School District State Schools were named to the California Distinguished Schools for 2014, it was announced Wednesday by State Supt. of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson.
Palm Crest, La Cañada and Paradise Canyon elementary schools were among the 424 public schools named to the list “ for their strong commitment and innovative approaches to improving student academic achievement,” according to a news release.
“I applaud these strong, thriving schools that are making such impressive strides in preparing their students for continued success,” Torlakson stated in the release. “This award is well-deserved by these school communities for their enduring dedication to high standards, hard work, and unwavering support.”
The local schools will be recognized in early June at a regional ceremony, according to Torlakson’s office.
