Share

City officials are making La Cañada residents aware of temporary street closures that will take effect Monday, May 16, as bicyclists participating in the annual Amgen Tour of California make their way through town on an eight-day race from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena to the city of Santa Clarita.

The tour, modeled after the Tour de France, is expected to arrive in La Cañada sometime between 12:30 and 12:45 p.m. that day. Riders, coming from the Linda Vista area, will travel across Berkshire Avenue, turn north at Commonwealth Avenue, and briefly ride on Lynnhaven and Green lanes before accessing the Angeles Crest Highway. Streets will be closed for approximately 20 minutes, city officials estimated in a press release.

All road closures will be performed by the California Highway Patrol, which travels with the Amgen Tour, and will be coordinated with the city and sheriff’s department. About 144 riders are expected to participate in the annual event. For more information, visit amgentourofcalifornia.com.
