Ross named director of district service area

Foothill Municipal Water District announced last week the appointment of Kathy Ross as director of Division 5 of its service area.

A graduate of Bucknell University, the La Crescenta resident holds both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in general engineering. She has worked for several firms in the area, including NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a private transportation engineering firm in Pasadena and her own consulting company.

Ross ran unopposed for the Division 5 seat, according to an FMWD statement, and replaces Dean Wiberg on the agency’s board of directors. In the position, she will bring to bear her water-utility experience gleaned from 11 years of service on the Crescenta Valley Water District Board of Directors.

Incumbents Mel Matthews and Richard Atwater, representing Divisions 2 and 4, respectively, also ran unopposed to retain their seats on the board. All three board members will serve in four year terms.

FMWD provides imported water to Crescenta Valley Water District, La Cañada Irrigation District and Valley Water Company, among other regional retail agencies.
