FOR THE RECORD: This story has been updated with new information from the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station. It was initially reported that $500 was stolen from the store’s safe and cash register. According to Lt. Bill Jaeger, about $2,000 was stolen, along with an iPad.

At around 10:55 p.m., just minutes before the store was scheduled to close, a black male wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a bandanna over his face entered the store with a handgun, watch commander Lt. Randy Tuinstra said Monday.
“There were approximately four or five employees in the location. [The suspect] ordered them all into the office, and he ordered the manager to open the safe,” Tuinstra said.
The man took cash from the safe and register before exiting the store and leaving in a vehicle that victims were unable to identify, he added.
“He had the employees basically stay in the office and told them not to move,” said Tuinstra, adding that the suspect appeared to be in his 30s but could not be further identified because the bandana covered most of his face.
A crime broadcast was issued to sheriff’s units in the area, but neither the suspect nor the vehicle could be located, Tuinstra said. Detectives are currently reviewing Round Table’s video surveillance to see if more details might be obtained, he added.
The afternoon manager involved in the incident could not be reached for comment Monday morning.
