CLASSES

Teen training program—Tuesdays and Thursdays. Verdugo Hills Hospital’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will be offering teen training classes for boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 18 to help teens increase their core strength, improve their agility and flexibility, and to decrease vulnerability to sports injuries. The classes will be held at the hospital on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for 11- to 14-year-olds, and from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for 14- to 18-year-olds. The first class is free and teens can attend as often as they want. A free optional screening will be held on Tuesday, July 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. VHH is located at 1812 Verdugo Boulevard in Glendale, 91208. Cookin Kids Culinary Camp—Six weeks, beginning July 12. Campers are divided into two groups, ages 7-11 and ages 12-16. Classes will be held at La Cañada High School, 4463 Oak Grove Drive. Parents may enroll children on one week or multiple sessions. Hike Iron Mountain — June 26, beginning at 7 a.m. The YMCA of the ¿¿¿ Foothills is offering a seven-hour climb for experienced hikers to the 8,007-foot peak of Iron Mountain. EXHIBITIONS

Oil paintings of Karen Horn, Sarah Gordon—July 3-31. The La Canada Flintridge County Library will display 30 original oil paintings by area artists Karen Horn and Sarah Gordon. Works will include new paintings in addition to favorites displayed in previous exhibitions. Horn has exhibited her works at Descanso Gardens, the Lanterman House, Red Rock Gallery, the Glass Gallery and jointly with Gordon at the Sierra Madre Art Festival, Segal Fine Art gallery, Alhambra City Hall and twice previously at the La Canada Flintridge Library. Festival on the Green—June 26, at 7:30 p.m. The California Philharmonic opens its 2010 Festival on the Green summer season at the 127-acre park in Arcadia. REUNIONS

La Cañada High School Class of 1970—Oct. 8-9. A cocktail party will be held beginning at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Pasadena Hilton; the 40-year reunion dinner is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 9, also at the Pasadena Hilton, 168 S. Los Robles.
