Our Readers Write: Bad manners in the neighborhood

Share

In my wildest dreams, I would never have imagined that I would get “the finger” in La Cañada from what some would consider an attractive 40-something woman in a new-model SUV (or from anyone, for that matter).

My family has lived in the area for 40 years and I still cannot believe that I experienced such rude behavior in my very own neighborhood from one of my “neighbors.” I was driving south toward Foothill Boulevard on a Sunday afternoon, apparently too slowly for this woman, but at the speed limit.

She was tailgating me, so I pulled to the curb as she sped by impatiently and sounded her horn.

She was stopped at the red light on Foothill Boulevard and I pulled alongside her to make a right turn. I looked to see who she was and that is when she gave me “the sign.”

I was more shocked than I can say and felt I need to write this letter to say, “I hope your children never see you act like this. Shame on you.”

Congressman thanks his supporters

I’d like to extend my sincere thanks to those who voted for me in this election.

Tough work lies ahead, but I am more committed than ever to getting our country and economy back on the right track by restoring fiscal discipline, accountability and transparency in Washington.

Assemblyman also grateful for support

Dear Neighbors: Ever since I first walked door to door through our great city and so many of you welcomed me into your homes and offered me a drink of water, a warm cup of coffee or shared your thoughts and ideas, I’ve been honored to represent our community.

Ellen and I have enjoyed watching our daughters grow up here and attend our great schools. I so appreciate La Cañada Flintridge for everything that has brought all of us here.

I am again, extremely thankful to have been reelected to the State Assembly were I can continue to represent this wonderful community. Thank you for your continued trust and support.

As always, I will be around town as much as I can and I’m always open to hearing any ideas or issues you may have. My District Office number is (626) 577-9944. Bill Hacket will continue to staff me for La Cañada issues and my home number is always available if you feel you need to call me directly, (818) 952-3432.

Ellen, Sofia, Bella and I are blessed to be part of this community. If you’re in Sacramento, please feel free to drop by the Capitol and visit my office.
