A student speaks up

I am very excited to be supporting Andrew “AJ” Blumenfeld for School Board. As a current student at La Cañada High School, I appreciate all the great teachers I have — teachers who inspire me to work hard and do my best. But my friends and I have compared notes. Like Andrew, we have found that not all teachers are the same. While one teacher might be going above and beyond to ensure the best, right down the hall — maybe even your next period — there’s a teacher who can’t (or won’t) do what’s necessary to deliver a high-quality course. And it doesn’t seem like our schools are designed to address this. But it shouldn’t be that way.

Andrew knows that the school board can set priorities and allocate resources to make sure every student gets a highly effective teacher for every subject. Getting a great teacher should not depend on luck. Our community should not depend on luck to get the right people on the school board. Take time to review Andrew’s website and introductory video at www.ajblumenfeld.com. He has the knowledge and energy to make a positive difference. The current caretaker attitude of our current system and school board has to go. As I graduate and leave La Cañada schools, I want to know we’re making progress for every student that follows me.

Please join me in voting for Andrew “AJ” Blumenfeld on Nov. 8.
