Let’s contract with Glendale or Pasadena

My husband and I both grew up in La Cañada and we are completely disgusted with the Southern California Edison’s inability to maintain reliable service for La Cañada residents.

We live just east of La Cañada Boulevard, north of the freeway, and we seem to lose power, or have service interruptions, more often than others when there is a large rainstorm or windstorm. We also lose power when there is no weather event going on at all.

On Jan. 31 at 12:43 a.m. we lost power for six hours. It came back on very briefly at about 5 a.m., only to be out for another hour or so. We had three more interruptions of the power that morning, with the power on anywhere from 30 - 45 minutes or so. This is just a nightmare for a community like ours.

I contacted City Hall to ascertain the reason and apparently they had the same information I got from the computer — there was an equipment problem. SCE has very poor customer service, as you can’t find a number to get a real person to respond. I don’t understand why this city is willing to put up with this company who has outdated equipment that needs to be upgraded.

I would like to see La Cañada Flintridge explore the option of getting our power from either Pasadena or Glendale, cities that also generate power and seem to have fewer outage problems than SCE.
