Get out on those trails

The article on the Trails Council award (“Trails Council is honored,” May 6) was much appreciated as it featured the efforts of all the “partnering” agencies, the LCF City Council, city staff, Los Angeles Riding and Hiking Trails, the many volunteers and the ever-growing number of trail users.

Trails Council was delighted to be a part of the process of bringing a 23-mile trail system to our community. Throughout the 40 years, led by longtime board members Liz Blackwelder and Cookie Kulper, the Trails Council has tried to be the voice of the hikers, equestrians, cyclists, dog walkers, runners — all the many people who use the trails.

It is our hope that every member in the community will continue to be good stewards for the trails, that all trail users will become the eyes and ears necessary to keep the trails open and enjoyable.

If you are not familiar with the trails, maps are available throughout the city and at the Valley Sun office. Discover Cherry Canyon, the San Gabriel Foothills, Horse Lane and the loop trail, all right here in your own backyard.

Take a hike. Take a ride.
