Kudos to the sheriff’s department

Because of the recent rash of burglaries and attempted burglaries in our neighborhood, we did all the right things before leaving on vacation including alerting neighbors, locking dead bolts, putting lights on timers and blocking sliding doors and windows.

In addition, we submitted a “special patrol request” to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s substation on Briggs Avenue. Every day we were on vacation, either deputies or Explorers or volunteers checked on our home, walked around the yard and made sure there was nothing unusual going on.

They also had our and our neighbors’ telephone numbers just in case. Needless to say, it gave us an increased, and much appreciated, sense of security.
