Council should protect trees

Share

Re: “City to trim list of protected trees,” March 14. I wonder if members of the city council have lost their marbles. Trees are synonymous with this city. The deodar cedar is representative of La Cañada Flintridge. People who don’t live here talk about how beautiful the deodars are. How many years have the council people lived in this city? Their job is to protect and serve. Native trees are not the only ones that should be saved.

If the council’s negative findings are because a few people in this town are harassing them, they should stand up and be tough. We are counting on all of them to be intelligent human beings, not political footballs that are kicked around.

After reading the story in last week’s paper I was actually sick to think that it would come to that. All beautiful trees should be saved. Blasphemy. In the old days, they’d run the council out of town on a rail.
