Unified schools a goal of many in La Cañada

Share

The Sept. 12 Valley Sun article, “Group talks school issue,” regarding the effort to have students residing in the western edge of the city attend schools in the LCUSD, was right on the mark in quoting one resident that this issue will not go away.

The fact that the residents of this area have actively sought for decades to achieve this goal is testimony to the degree to which it is so desired by many.

Our initiative is not based on any perception that one school district is superior to the other. Rather, it is about doing what many parents feel is best for their children, namely, unifying their ties to their community and their ties to their schools and enhancing the connection they feel toward both.

l’d like to thank Council Members Curtis and Voss and LCUSD Governing Board Members Peterson and Tracy for participating in the resident’s forum on this very important issue.
