Letter: Sad to see In Theory out of print

I was sorry to learn that the Valley Sun has been forced to drop the In Theory space in the paper due to a decline in advertising. I appreciate the economic concerns the paper must address, but I truly hope this is a temporary measure.

Unlike other community newspapers that seem to focus entirely on photos of youth sports, social galas and real estate news, the Valley Sun stood out for its commitment to providing a thought-provoking forum on a broad range of topical issues.

Clergy, in addition to the many other roles they perform, are significant community leaders as well. The varied and thoughtful opinions expressed in each of the In Theory editions will be sorely missed by me and I am sure many others.

Hopefully In Theory can have a rebirth in the future, perhaps with an advertising sponsor of its own.
