Letter: A vote for schools is a vote for home

Share

Considered one of the top K-12 school districts in the state La Cañada schools offer our students a strong education in math, science and technology and prepare them for the best colleges and careers. Thanks to the world-class education our children receive, demand is high for homes and property values are strong. In fact, analyses of recent real estate sales show that homes in the La Cañada Unified School District sell for 20% more than comparable homes just outside the district.

However, state cuts to education funding for LCUSD have totaled $17.4 million over the last six years. To support the quality of education in this community, voters approved a local funding measure in 2009. Now this funding is set to expire unless voters choose to renew it. Measure LC will allow locally controlled funding to protect La Cañada schools. And it is a small investment in the long-term value of your home.

Please join me in supporting Measure LC to keep our schools and our property values strong.
