Filipino bishop to visit St. Bede’s

Bishop Oscar A. Solis, Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop and the first Filipino bishop in the U.S., will come to St. Bede Catholic Church to be the main celebrant in offering the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass on Sunday at 5:30 PM. The occasion is St. Bede’s 11th SIMBANG GABI (literally translated as Evening Mass) a Filipino tradition of nine early-morning masses in preparation for Christmas.

Concelebrating with Bishop Solis are: the Rev. Msgr. Antonio Cacciapuoti, Pastor; the Rev. Greg Dongkore, Associate Pastor; and Deacon Augie Won. They are inviting the community to the event to learn the origin of this tradition, to appreciate authentic Philippine music and cuisine and to see the lanterns that adorn Philippine houses during Christmas season.
