Italian Catholic Federation awards scholarships to St. Bede Elementary students

Two students who were recently promoted from eighth grade at St. Bede the Venerable Elementary School were awarded scholarships by the local branch of the Italian Catholic Federation for essays they submitted that told of their heritage and service to the church and their community.

McKenna Smith, the first-place winner, was awarded $250, and second-place winner Nick Sarcel was awarded $100. The prizes were presented at the June meeting of ICF Branch 374, which was held in the St. Bede St. Pope John XIII Room of the Parish Center by Branch president Mark Mannarelli.

McKenna plans to attend Mayfield School in Pasadena this fall, while Nick is moving on to St. Francis High School.
