On Saturday 300 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints celebrated Pioneer Day with community members at the La Cañada church campus. Pioneer Day is July 24 and is the anniversary of the day when the first Mormon pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in Utah.
At Saturday’s festivities, adults enjoyed pulled pork sandwiches, coleslaw and salads. Children enjoyed a giant inflatable air-filled trampoline and Hawaiian shave ice.
On Aug. 9, Christian Hansen, a 2003 graduate of La Cañada High who is currently a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, will be in concert at 7 p.m. at the church, located at 1830 Foothill Blvd. Hansen will be performing on the piano his original compositions and arrangements. All are welcome to attend.
