GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Brentwood 54, La Cañada 49: La Cañada, which won the Rio Hondo League championship, finished its campaign Thursday with a home loss in a CIF Southern Section Division I first-round contest.
The Spartans went 18-11.
Brentwood, which received an at-large berth out of the Gold Coast League, improved to 23-7.
Flintridge Prep 50, Arcadia 44: Host Flintridge Prep began the CIF Southern Section Division II-AA postseason Thursday with a win.
The Rebels, who won the Prep League championship, are 23-4.
Flintridge Prep will meet Los Altos in a second-round road game Saturday at a time to be determined.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Westminster 1, La Cañada 0: La Cañada saw its season conclude Thursday with a road defeat in a CIF Southern Section Division IV first-round match.
La Cañada, which took second in the Rio Hondo League, finished 8-10-2.
Westminster (15-4-4) won the Golden West League title.
Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy 2, Riverside Poly 0: Second-seeded Flintridge Sacred Heart received two goals from Lauren Bolte to earn a victory Thursday in a CIF Southern Section Division II first-round match at the Glendale Sports Complex.
The Tologs, who finished tied for second in the Mission League, improved to 12-4-1 and got one assist each from Madison Leroy and Hillary Howard.
Flintridge Sacred Heart will travel to face Capistrano Valley in a second-round match at 5 p.m. Saturday.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Flintridge Prep 10, Western 9: Makena Walklett scored four goals Tuesday to spark visiting Flintridge Prep to a CIF Southern Section Division VI second-round victory.
Flintridge Prep, which took second in the Prep League, improved to 15-9 and will be the designated home team against top-seeded Laguna Hills in a quarterfinal match Saturday at a time and location to be determined.
