Sports Roundup: La Cañada wrestler advances to Masters Meet semifinals

La Cañada in CIF Southern Section Masters Meet: La Cañada senior Sophie Garcia advanced to the 170-pound semifinal round at Eastvale Eleanor Roosevelt High on Friday.

The final rounds are set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the same location.

BOYS’ WRESTLING

La Cañada in CIF Southern Section Masters Meet: Spartans 170-pound senior Johnny Vasily was knocked out in the first round on a decision to Hemet’s Travis Wuerth on Friday at Cerritos College.

The three-time Rio Hondo League champion closed out his career after a close, 8-6, loss by decision in the consolation round to Javier Hernandez of Sultana.
