The Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy Saddleseat and Western Riders put themselves in first place in the Saddleseat and Western School League of Greater Los Angeles standings halfway into the league season.

The Tologs excelled in the league’s second of four shows of the 2011-12 season Saturday thanks to outstanding performances from Alex Bernstein, Jamie Lemus and Isabella De Cardenas. Bernstein earned points toward her United States Equestrian Federation varsity letter in the competition.

In an effort to promote interest in the equestrian arts among students, the Federation is offering specially designed emblems and pins to be worn on jackets or school’s letterman jackets as a symbol of achievement.

The high school equestrian athletics program is open to all students who wish to participate. The program encompasses all breeds of horses and all riding disciplines.

For students to earn a varsity letter they are required to become members of the Federation and to document their supervised training and involvement and submit it for approval. The program is designed to honor the student’s efforts and bring recognition to them and their schools.

The Saddleseat and Western School League, a Federation affiliate, welcomes all interested middle school and high school riders of the Saddleseat and Western disciplines.

The next league show is scheduled for Feb. 5. For more information visit https://www.saddleseatwesternleague.com or call (213) 972-7975.
