SOFTBALL

La Cañada 8, Glendora 0: Lauren Cox was dominant yet again for the Spartans, tossing a no-hitter with 12 strikeouts Friday in the San Dimas Tournament. Her bid for a perfect game was broken up by a La Cañada error.

Catherine Horner led La Cañada’s offense going three for three with doubles and three runs batted in. Selina Mohr went two for three with a run scored and stolen base for the Spartans (3-0).

BOYS’ TENNIS

Troy 10, La Cañada 8: The Spartans came in second place in the Claremont Tournament after losing in the final against Hart Wednesday.

La Cañada’s singles players — Joshua Kim, Andre Danuns and Ryan Lee — each won two sets for the Spartans, who also got two victories from its doubles team of Leeho Lim and Harrison Zuk.

It was a strong showing for La Cañada (2-2) after it took third in the tournament last year. The Spartans advanced to the final with victories over Glendora (18-0) and host Claremont (12-6).
