Spartans beat Falcons handily

BOYS’ GOLF

La Cañada 173, Crescenta Valley 204: The Spartans turned in a dominant performance to improve to 8-1 in Thursday’s nonleague match at the par-34 La Cañada Country Club.

Collin Morikawa and Noah Bernstein shared top honors with one-under-par 33s, while teammate Josh Suh shot a 34 and Andrew Park notched a 36.

Pasadena Poly 199, Flintridge Prep 218, Webb 226: Freshman Manny Medrano shot a par-35 as the Panthers (7-1, 4-0) won Thursday’s Prep League tri-meet at Altadena Golf Course.

David Hong shot a 37, while Willie Moffly carded a 39 and girls’ standout Victoria Morgan shot a 40.

The Rebels went 1-1 in Thursday’s Prep League tri-meet at the par-35 Altadena Golf Course.

Jack Bouchard led the Rebels with a 36, while Josh Kim had a 42, Richard Lo a 45 and Chris Wirthlin a 47.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

Viewpoint 3, Flintridge Prep 1: The Rebels (7-8, 1-1) fell in a nonleague match to visiting Viewpoint 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 27-25, on Thursday.

Junior middle blocker Kareem Ismail led Prep with 13 kills and eight blocks and Kory Hamane chipped in 11 kills in limited action.

According to Prep Coach Sean Beattie, Hamane rolled his ankle in the third game and missed the rest of the contest. Beattie said Hamane “was fine,” but it wasn’t clear if Hamane would be available for today’s Prep League home match against Rio Hondo Prep.

Harvard-Westlake 3, St. Francis 0: Chris Thompson had 34 assists Thursday for the visiting Golden Knights, who suffered a 27-25, 25-21, 26-24 Mission League defeat. Michael Bacall finished with 12 kills, while Charles McCarthy and Wesley Coffey added 10 apiece for St. Francis (6-4, 3-4 in league).
