Rebels grab first win
SOFTBALL
Flintridge Prep 18, Chadwick 3 (five innings): Chelsea Johnson went four for five and scored a pair of runs Tuesday to lead the visiting Rebels in a Prep League contest to claim their first victory of the season. Rachel Simon also went four for five and drove in two runs for Flintridge Prep (1-11, 1-4 in league). Maya Okamoto had three hits and Drew Montgomery added two for the Rebels.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Chaminade 12, St. Francis 6: St. Francis’ doubles team of Alex Kevakian and Kristian Esteve swept their three sets, 6-1, 6-3, 6-2, on Tuesday in a Mission League home match at Fremont Tennis Center. St. Francis (6-6, 3-4 in league) suffered a 12-6 league home loss Monday against Harvard-Westlake.
Burbank 14, Flintridge Prep 4: Rebel singles player James Nowotny won two sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-5) in a nonleague road match Tuesday.
BOYS’ GOLF
La Cañada 177, Oak Park 205: Joshua Suh earned medalist honors with a three-under-par 31 at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club Tuesday. The Spartans turned in an even-par 34 from Colin Morikawa and Noah Bernstein and Daniel Rhee both carded 36s for La Cañada (13-2).
Cathedral 238, Flintridge Prep 243: Jack Bouchard carded a one-over-par 36 to earn medalist honors Tuesday for the visiting Rebels (5-9) in a nonleague match at Rancho Park Golf Course in Los Angeles.
BASEBALL
Crespi 21, St. Francis 1: The visiting Golden Knights suffered a Mission League road loss Tuesday at Hartunian Field in Encino. St. Francis dropped to 7-14, 2-3 in league.
San Marino 5, La Cañada 3: The Spartans took a two-run lead after scoring three runs in the top of the third, but they couldn’t hold on. The Titans retook a lead, 4-3, with a three-run fifth and notched an insurance run in the sixth for the victory.
La Cañada fell to 8-10, 0-6 in league in the loss after falling to Temple City, 5-0, Monday in a make-up game after Friday’s rain postponed the game.
