La Cañada in the Crescenta Valley Tournament: The Spartans (4-21) finished 0-6 in the two-day tournament and concluded Saturday’s competition by losing to Rio Hondo League rival San Marino, 25-21, 25-14, in the Silver Division seventh-place game.

Jack Anderson finished with two kills in the Spartans’ first match Saturday in a loss to Paraclete, 25-10, 25-15.

“This is a learning tournament for us and a building block for next season, when I get nine players back,” La Cañada third-year Coach David Woo said. “We’ve had a tough year and there will be some changes, some of which I will make because of what I see now.”

La Cañada began with the tournament with losses to Van Nuys (25-21, 25-17), Oaks Christian (25-10, 25-20) and Righetti (25-16, 25-13) on Friday.
