La Canada girls’ basketball sweeps past Blair

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 69, Blair 30: Courtney Chen had 15 points to pace the Spartans in Friday’s Rio Hondo League victory. She also had six steals, four assists and three rebounds.

Sarah Borland and Keilee Bessho had 11 points each for the Spartans (10-7, 2-0 in league), with Bessho adding six rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Lauren Barsamian had 10 rebounds, three steals and three assists.

Flintridge Prep 31, Webb 21: The Rebels improved to 9-3 and 2-0 in the Prep League Friday, despite not scoring in the fourth quarter at home. Tyler Faulkner logged a team-high seven points for Prep, which got six points each from Maya Okamoto and Katherine Bogaard.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 58, Blair 41: Koko Kurdoghlian posted a double-double in La Cañada’s Rio Hondo League win at home Friday night, scoring 11 points and pulling down 13 rebounds. The Spartans (10-7, 2-0 in league) also received 11 points each from Kyle Thomas and Dan Jun, eight points from Mario Del Cueto and eight assists from Ryan Lee.

Loyola 70, St. Francis 33: The Golden Knights’ loss on Friday in Mission League play dropped them to 10-7 overall and 0-3 in league.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 3, Blair 1: The Spartans improved to 12-2-1, 2-0 in Rio Hondo League with a two-goal win over Blair at home Friday.

Loyola 1, St. Francis 0: A goal in the 70th minute by the Cubs downed the Golden Knights on the road in Mission League action Monday. St. Francis is now 2-5-5 and 0-2-1 in league.

GIRLS’ WATER POLO

Pasadena Poly 20, Flintridge Prep 1: Prep’s lone goal was scored by Haley Purvis in Friday’s Prep League road loss.
