La Cañada 189, Monrovia 237: The Spartans stayed perfect in capturing their 10th win and third in the Rio Hondo League Thursday at Eaton Canyon Golf Course. As has often been the case this year, La Cañada’s top-four scorers were a few strokes below the opponent’s top golfer.

Daniel Rhee was the medalist for the Spartans with a 35 and Robby Stehlin carded a 36 for La Cañada, which also had Joshua Suh and Sam Bernstein log a 38 and 39, respectively. Monrovia’s lowest scorer Kaiza Kleen came in at 44.

BOYS’ SWIMMING

La Cañada 122, South Pasadena 48: La Cañada took first in every event again in a Rio Hondo League meet with the Tigers Thursday at La Cañada.

While the Spartans (4-0 in league) have yet to be tested in league, La Cañada Coach Art Lopez said it’s all going to come down to its home meet with San Marino High on April 11.

“Our challenge is going to come with San Marino, that’s the Rio Hondo League championship right there,” Lopez said.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

South Pasadena 110, La Cañada 50: The Spartans 200-yard medley relay team of Sammy Campbell, Caitlyn Seto, Shelby Hopkins and Rachel Wong came just shy of hitting its CIF Southern Section Division I consideration time in a Rio Hondo League loss at La Cañada Thursday.

The group touched the wall in 2 minutes 1.33 seconds with the consideration time set at 2:01. It was good for second place against the Tigers.

“I was really proud of them, that relay keeps on getting better and we keep getting better as a team,” said La Cañada High assistant Coach Meg Patrick, whose team slipped to 1-3 in league.
