SPORTS ROUNDUP: Flintridge Prep boys’ swimming dominates Prep League prelims

BOYS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: The Rebels won 10 of the 11 events at Pasadena Poly Thursday.

Carlo Sivilotti, Bruce Park and Marco Flores each had their hands in four victories for Flintridge Prep.
Sivilotti, Bruce Park, Kevin Park and Marco Flores made up the Rebels’ victorious 200-yard medley and 400 freestyle relay teams. They won both with CIF Southern Section Division IV automatic times of one minute 44.04 seconds in the medley and 3:23.89 in the freestyle.

Sivilotti also won the 50 freestyle in an automatic time of 22.42, a race in which Prep’s Gary Lee took third (23.40). Flores won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke in automatic marks of 2:06.62 and 1:04.47. Bruce Park also won the 200 freestyle in 1:55.66 -- with the Rebels’ Gabriel Fernandez taking second (1:58.19) – and the 100 butterfly in 56.11.

Kevin Park won the 100 backstroke (1:00.19) – with Prep’s William Newman taking third (1:02.05) – and was runner-up in the 200 indivudal medley (2:12.17). Fernandez also won the 500 freestyle in 5:17.95, a race the Rebels’ Diego Delgado took third in (5:30.13).

The 200-freestyle group of Lee, John Treinan, Ethan Vanderventer and Sivilotti won in 1:36.45.
Lee was also runner-up in the 100 freestyle (52.97) behind Webb’s Richard Parnell (52.63).

League finals will be noon on Saturday at Poly.

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Flintridge Prep at Prep League prelims: Jennifer Langen turned in a fine day at Pasadena Poly Thursday.

The junior was the only Rebel to place in the top-three of any of the eight individual races, as she posted victories in the 100- and 200-yard freestyles in a CIF Southern Section Division IV automatic times of 56.15 seconds and 2:01.27.

Langen also led Prep’s 200-medley relay team (2:06.67), which included Kim Cheng, Natalie Rozman and Lauren Au, to a runner-up finish and consideration time and third place with a consideration time with the same group in the 400-freestyle relay (4:12.15).

League finals will be noon on Saturday at Poly.

BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL

St. Francis 3, Sherman Oaks Notre Dame 1: The host Golden Knights picked up a 25-20, 25-23, 18-25, 25-18 Mission League win Thursday. St. Francis (6-10, 2-9 in league) got 26 kills from Charles McCarthy, 33 assists from David Thompson and 13 kills from Markar Agakanian.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Chaminade 15, St. Francis 3: The Golden Knights saw their season conclude Thursday with a Mission League home defeat at Fremont Tennis Center. St. Francis finished 8-9, 4-6 in league for fourth place.
