Sports Roundup: La Cañada High girls’ basketball romps past Blair

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 73, Blair 11: The Spartans, ranked first in CIF Southern Section Division 3A, continued to run roughshod in the Rio Hondo League with Wednesday’s road win.

The Spartans, who led, 36-8 at the half and won the third quarter by a 27-0 margin, were paced by Courtney Chen, as the reigning All-Area Girls’ Basketball Player of the Year had a game-high 12 points, seven assists and five steals.

Amber Graves had 11 points, seven rebounds and two steals, while Sarah Kurdoghlian had eight points, six rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Alyssa Miller had nine points and two steals and Aundrea Issakhanian had four points, three rebounds and five steals. On the night, 12 Spartans scored.

The Spartans have won seven straight and are now 15-4 and 3-0 league.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL

La Cañada 66, Blair 38: KoKo Kurdoghlian finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven steals Wednesday to spark the visiting Spartans in a Rio Hondo League contest. La Cañada (13-6, 3-0 in league) got 17 points from Grant Arthur.

BOYS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 1, Blair 1: The visiting Spartans finished in a deadlock in a Rio Hondo League match Wednesday.

The Spartans are 8-2-6, 1-0-2 in league.

Flintridge Prep 2, Chadwick 2: Down two goals in the second half, the Rebels rallied for an impressive Prep League road tie Wednesday afternoon.

Bruce Delgado tallied the first goal for the Rebels (9-3-2, 2-0-2 in league) in the 60th minute off a penalty kick, while Ari Baranian notched the match-tying goal in the 70th minute thanks to an assist from Michael Weinstein.

GIRLS’ SOCCER

La Cañada 11, Blair 0: Megan Reilly finished with three goals Wednesday to help the host Spartans pick up an easy Rio Hondo League win.

La Cañada (11-0, 2-0 in league) received a pair of goals from Olivia Juse and one apiece from Katherine Sheehy, Megan Decker, Francesca Mor, Kristen Becker, Casey Quiring and Ari Aghadjanians.
