Share

Two Halloween-related programs are being planned by YMCA of the Foothills this year, both of which have an eye toward keeping kids safe and healthy.

On Friday, Oct. 28, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA, 1930 Foothill Blvd., will hold a Halloween carnival featuring games, face painting, activities including a dance-a-thon, a family pumpkin carving contest and a costume contest. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.

In support of its Obesity Prevention Initiative, the local Y is also offering a “Candy Buyback” program. From Nov. 1 to 3, for every pound of candy donated, each participating child will receive a raffle ticket. These tickets will be entered into a drawing with the top 10 winners receiving either a new bike or scooter. All candy donations go to Operation Gratitude, a organization that supports U.S. troops abroad through care packages.
