Nine residential burglaries reported in La Cañada in October; three suspects arrested

There were nine residential burglaries in La Cañada last month, but three suspects have already been arrested in connection with at least three of those crimes, Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station Capt. Bill Song told members of the City Council on Tuesday.

In his monthly report on crime activity throughout the city, Song said there were 26 part I crimes committed in October, including one commercial burglary and seven vehicle burglaries. That figure puts the city 5% above the same year-to-date figures from 2015, but about 6% below the same average recorded five years ago.

The captain said the three residential burglary suspects were detained by the Los Angeles Police Department and found in custody of possessions associated with at least three home break-ins in La Cañada. Another two suspects, thought to have committed a commercial burglary inside city limits last month, were apprehended and were identified as residents of Long Beach.

Song also reported 13 traffic collisions occurring in October, three of which resulted in injuries. As a tip to residents doing holiday shopping in coming months, he encouraged citizens to keep all gift and gift bags secured in their trunks while out and about, adding that additional vehicle patrols have been ordered to help prevent thefts.
